Enhance your social media with engaging graphic design

Contact

When it comes to social media, graphic design plays a huge part and has significantly become an important part of your content strategy.

Whether you are passing billboards, surfing the web or reading a magazine we see and remember content everywhere. However do we remember everything we have seen and did it catch your attention? Chances are no if you can’t remember it which is why the best thing when producing content for your brand is to make it memorable.

One of the most important things is is ensuring you have a goal and something to base you designs on. Asking yourself the questions of what is the purpose of your post or whether you are trying to increase engagement on your page. Be sure to keep your target audience in mind as well and know who they are. Knowing these two things will give you a good start and know the reason why you’re creating social media graphics.

When you know your goal and who your audience will be, that can set you going with designing your graphics and how they will look.

Colours

If you want people to draw attention to your graphics then the colours need to be right and of course catchy. Think about what your brand stands for and the colours you use in your logo. Keeping a consistency across your whole brand is important. Steer clear of colour combinations that are uncomfortable viewing and stick to a maximum two or three colours. Pick colours that compliment each other. This may require a bit of experimenting at the beginning but it will be worth it. Assuming you are producing more than once graphic then these will all need to be similar with regards to colours used.

Text

The whole point of these graphics is to be able to deliver your message across as simply as possible. Of course the text is important and you may feel that you want to use every word you can to explain your brand. However you will have limited space and you don’t want to overcrowd the graphic and put the audience off reading it because there is so much on the graphic. Try to limit to a couple of sentences in a simple font, or one that links back to your brand.

Consistency

If your content across social media looks good and connected across all channels then the audience will be able to recognise and understand your brand and the messages you are trying to get across. What will make things easier is when you have put together your first graphic as it will provide a template for the style you want to get across. The main point with regards to consistency is that whatever platform your graphics are on, the audience can recognise your brand with ease.

So there are a few things to consider when putting graphics together for your social media. Be sure to keep them simple but be creative at the same time. At the end of the day the important thing is to get your message across and ensure that your audience understands it and recognises your brand.
